Course Content: Our course provides in-depth coverage of essential first aid topics from a boating perspective, ensuring participants are well-prepared to handle medical emergencies on the water. The curriculum includes:
1. Recovery Position in Confined Spaces:
2. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Master CPR techniques, with a specific focus on the drowning protocol, addressing emergencies related to water incidents.
3. Cold Shock and Hypothermia: Understand the effects and appropriate responses to cold shock and hypothermia resulting from immersion or exposure, critical knowledge for boaters facing adverse conditions.
4. Seasickness and Dehydration: Explore strategies for managing seasickness and dehydration, common challenges encountered during boating excursions.
5. Medical Assistance via VHF: Gain insights into seeking medical assistance or advice using Very High-Frequency (VHF) communication systems, a vital skill for obtaining support in remote maritime settings.
6. Helicopter Rescue Protocols: Learn the protocols and procedures associated with helicopter rescue operations, preparing participants for potential evacuation scenarios. Certificate issuing criteria:
To achieve a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to be able to support skippers of yachts and motor vessels.
